Siemens PLM Software adds significant new capabilities to Teamcenter Express Version 5 that further establishes Teamcenter Express as the leader in providing a preconfigured cPDM environment that focuses on managing everyday tasks and processes for design-through-manufacturing for small and mid-sized organizations. The updated user interface, new cost analysis tools for products and projects, enhanced integration with Microsoft Office and expanded project scheduling capabilities increase productivity from the users’ desktop through to manufacturing.

Expanded Reporting Including Cost and Weight Analysis

An enhanced reporting tool enables product costs to be calculated, stored and analyzed throughout the product lifecycle. This enables better control of costs from concept design through to release to manufacturing leading to better control of costs and increased profitability. In addition to cost analysis, reports can also be used to analyze weight and other user defined attributes.

Enhanced Integration with Microsoft Office

Version 5 adds an improved user interface and expanded capabilities for integration with Microsoft Office. Users of Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and Powerpoint can easily browse and search the Teamcenter Express database while working in these applications, can add new documents to the single source of data and review and approve PDM workflow tasks that have been assigned to them. Users of Microsoft Outlook can also see all the PDM workflow tasks that are assigned to them, and review and signoff on these tasks and the associated documents.

Expanded Project Scheduling Capabilities and Project Cost Analysis

Version 5 includes several enhancements in the optional project management module that is available with Teamcenter Express. These include the ability to create links between projects so you can create a master project with sub-projects, users can also view multiple project schedules in a single window, enabling improved resource allocation and early identification of potential bottlenecks. Project cost rollups are also now available enabling calculation and analysis of project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
