Hello,

me and my team use solid edge V19 on Windows XP.

due to many different kind of machine assemblies and may parts.. we have created many sub folders to recognise part easly. and due to this File path becomes very long. for example prat X placed in almost 7th level (7 subfolders). and becaose of this it takes long time to open large assembly. some one can give me solution for this?

i have tried to change path for parts using "LinkMgmt" (in side C:\\program files\solid edge V19\program) also tried do to it using "iCnct' but no effect.

Thanks in advance

You can try Long Path Tool. It deletes/unlocks, copies/renames path too long files/folders.

Long Path Tool can simplify and probably end your problems in unlocking, managing and renaming files that appear to have a long filename.

Since in some instances, you may have experienced problems accessing, managing and even renaming files that have more than 255 characters, this utility has been made to answer this particular scenario. If you have also encountered problems like error messages that tell you that the path too long, too long path, destination path too long or cannot delete file then this program is definitely for you.

This will totally take place of Windows Explorer, Far Manager or other file managing utilities since this is maybe used in any type of Operating System even the earliest Windows 95 version.

You can get from "longpathtool.com"

I can't say for sure if it will help or not, but you might try using the DOS "subst" command to replace some of the paths with 'drive letters'.  This would give the appearance of shorter path names.

For example: (quotation marks may be required if the path contains spaces)

C:\> subst E: "C:\This_is\a_really\long_path\folder_name\where_my_files\are_located"

C:\> subst F: "C:\This_is\another_really\long_path\folder_name\where_my_files\are_located"

C:\> subst G: "C:\This_is\yet_another_really\long_path\folder_name\where_my_files\are_located"

Regards,

Kevin
