Hi all

I'm happy to have found this forum considering most of the time i do a google i can't find much on SE.

Anyway lets cut to the chase i have v18 installed and i need to move files that i created, because i created them in the wrong location. I have checked the link manager file settings and what i change makes no difference to the fact that the system cannot find the file even if i place the parts in the same directory as the assembley. Is there a way to move the files to my new location so that the assembley can generate the new link or do i have to make copies of the files rename them and replace the parts?

I am surprised that your link manager settings does not affect the situation. Are you sure the part files are in the same folder that the assembly file? If "container" is the first item in the linkmgmt.txt file then the assembly should still find the files. (Same is true of sub assembly files.)

There is another tool you can use to change the paths internal to the files BUT BE VERY CAREFULL when using this tool and first test it out so that you make sure you understand what it does.

1. Open View and Markup (also known as Insight Connect) (c:\program files\solid edge v18\program\icnct.exe

2. Go to Tools > Link Mangement > Redefine links.

You will need to say which folder your project is located in and state the old path and new path. Again - think twice before using this tool as there is no undo. Backup your work before using the tool.

Consider giving Esteq a support to assist you with moving your assembly.
