I tried to uninstall Solid Edge, but the power went off during the uninstallation. Solid Edge does not appear in the Control Panel\\Add and Remove Programs, but when I install a new version it says there is still an old version on the computer. How can reinstall Solid Edge? PS: I have tried to delete the files from c:\\program files\\solid edge v20\\, but this doesn\'t make a difference.

There is a program called SECleanup.exe that removes Solid Edge from Windows. It does not delete the actual Solid Edge program files, but removes all the relevant registry entries. You can run SECleanup and SECleanupAll from the Solid Edge installation folder. (You can also copy the program onto a flash drive to take it from one computer to another). After running the program you can delete the c:\\program files\\solid edge\\ files. You can file SELicense in c:\\program files\\solid edge\\program

I am experiencing a similar problem trying to install ST2 on windows 7, I have tried the SECleanup utility but it still says a previous version is installed! Any clues?

I solved it!!!

I had to disable the User Access Control (UAC) by going into control panel, action center, change user account control settings, and then oving the slider down to 'never notify'. This followed by a re-boot and re-running the SECleanup utility has now allowed me to re-install without the error message.. Think I just need to re-enable UAC once installed and all should be good.

It is important to make sure that UAC (user account control) is switched off on Windows 7 and Windows vista when installing Solid Edge.

UAC denies the installer full access to the computer and consequently Solid Edge does not install correctly. Usually the PDF printer (i.e. the Save as PDF function) fails to install.
