I can force this to happen, when installing Solid Edge in a Fresh install 1) Select New 2) The default User templates are visible 3) Got File Location ( There are no templates set in the Path but the templates are visible) 4) Select User Profile 5) Change User type to Traditional and Synchronous
In assembley I bring in a part. While using flash fit I rotate the part to the position I require.
I then mate faces holes etc. When I then use rotation lock to lock the part in the position I require,
The part reverts back to its original position.
Any Ideas??

Flash
Template drawings are not viewable from the default template directory C:\Program Files\Solid Edge etc etc there are no files in any of the template tabs, when changing the default location to a Network Share I am avilable to view the template files.
Any assistance would be grateful
Many Thanks In Advance
I suspect you part copied only the surfaces of the old part. Make sure you also bring in the designed body when using the part copy command.
I have used the part copy command to bring in a part to another part but when I create a drawing the copied part does not appear. Any Ideas
Flash,
Can you maybe take a couple of screen shots or images to help us understand?
I presume you are using the assembly cutout feature. When you say it only creates a hole in the one half of the circle I also presume that it only puts the holes in one part and not in both.
If this is the case check the follow:
1) In the assembly cutout feature make sure which direction you specify the cut should happen
2) Make sure that you select which parts should be cut and that the correct ones have been selected.
3) Make sure what options you are using for the command: whether it is it is assembly driven features or simple assembly features. (If you are using assembly features and the you use the same part for both arches then the hole would not necessarily be replicated in both arches, but with assembly driven features that part will be permamently be changed).
That is some of my thoughts.
Hi All
I have created an arch as a part I have then used assembley to put two arches togeather to form a circle (Flange). Now in assembley mode I want to cut out a hole and then array it arround the circle(Flange). When I do this it only ceates holes in one half of the Circle (Flange). Any ideas ??????
There are new functionality in Solid Edge ST2 which makes this a whole lot easier! You can dimension a sphere by doing a live section on the part. Not only does it give you a cross section which on which you can place dimensions, you also drive the model with these dimensions. Attached is a screenshot.
You have to change your template part and assembly documents in order to change the background on all new parts and assemblies.
The default location for the template files are c:\program files\solid edge xx\template.
If you open the parts and assemblies in this folder, change them and save it again then it will affect your new Solid Edge documents.
HOW CAN SET MY DEAULT BACKGROUND COLOR IN PART AND ASSEMBLY ENVIRONMENT SO THAT I DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE EVERYTIME I OPEN SOLID EDGE. SUPPOSE I NEED SKY BLU EVERYTIME I OPEN A NEW PART OR ASSEMBLY.

You star. This has been been a pain in the behind for a long time. Although my version is 19 .
Thanks
Go to View > View and change the part edge colors (to say black or face color)
Hi All I have mangaed to do something to my screen settings in that all the edges of a part are lime green. How do I reset this
Is really important to use polylines?
If not, and you simply need lines that are connected then you can use the "relationships commands". You can also set intellisketch to pickup connect relationship automtically. Make sure relationship handles are switched on and maintain relationships are selected. I am using SE ST2 and attached is a screen shot of my settings.
Solid Edge draft.
How do I add lines together to one single polyline?
This is needed for the processing afterwords (CNC wood router).
Screen dump is atached. The Solid Edge file with the actual problem is not accepted by the upload procedure.

OK, that;s interesting, and also explains alot of happening in Windows 7.I’ve noticed that many programs to not shut down completely when you exit them in Windows 7, Outlook being one of them. So everytime I restart Outlook, or reboot my computer, my Outlook data file needs to be checked because Outlook did not close properly previously.
Solid Edge only saves its registry settings when it is closed by the user.Implications:1) If Solid Edge crashes or goes through a forced closed your settings are not saved.2) If you open a second Solid Edge instance, the settings of second instance will not be necessarily the same as the first instance for it looks at the settings in the registry (which is the settings of last closed instance).3) If you have multiple instances of Solid Edge running and closes them, the settings stored would that of the last closed Solid Edge.If none of the both is relevant I would do the following:1) Make sure all Solid Edge instances are closed (double check the task manager to ensure there is no edge.exe process running)2) Open the registry editor (Start > Run > type “regedit” and press enter)3) Use the tree structure to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version 100\General\4) (Version 100 = SE ST1, Version 102 = SE ST2)5) Set the variable called “SEUserType” as follows: “1” for both, “3” for ST only and “2” for traditional modeling
If I set my SolidEdge options, user type to Synchronopus and Traditional, everytime I restart SolidEdge, it defaults back to Synchronous Only.
Solid Edge Simulation is an add-on to Solid Edge Foundation and Solid Edge Classic. (It is included in Solid edge Premium as of version ST2).
Solid Edge Simulation is an embedded FEA tool which allows users to do FEA on both single components and assemblies. It is a product aimed at non-specialist, and there is a migration path to FEMAP which can be used for specialist FEA work.
FEMAP Express that has been available in Solid Edge Classic (version 18 to ST1) will be replaced by Solid Edge Simulation Express which enables the user to FEA on a single component only.
The migration path is thus: SE Simulation Express >> SE Simulation >> FEMAP
I have noticed that some users are not aware how Solid Edge determines where it will look for a referenced file. A new page was added to this site assist users with this.
You can select the page from the "SE Tips" menu or go to http://www.solidedge.co.za/tips-a-tricks/tips-how-to/how-to-set-the-link-management.html
Remeber that the location of the link management file, LinkMgmt.txt, can be set from the Solid Edge options menu. (In the same way that you can set the location for the material library or templates.)

If you’re using Solid Edge or another 3D CAD system and are interested in exploring designing with synchronous technology, this is the place to start. These materials will help get you going.
